Scope and content

The success and 'heavenly' life of this town was more than he could hope for. Rutherford is 'not a patch' on Edith, but much nicer to work with. Pamela Brown should make a great difference to "Love for Love". Discusses other members of the cast. Has not been to see Windermere as fears he would not view it fairly. Discusses musicals. Is glad Beaton wants to do "High Summer". Hopes to get Terry to work on it when he returns from Florida. Wants him to develop the characters of the mother and her lover. Fears that Beaton's work may prove to be the best thing about it, which is not good for a new play. Discusses his plans. Oliver Smith took him to meet Beaton's friend Guye Davis. Likes both of them. There are lots of pleasant things to do. Feels like a truant from time to time. Suddenly feels patriotic and resentful. Asks if Beaton is short of anything and will send it if he is.
