Scope and content
Thanks Beaton for his letter and cheque. Hopes all is well in the country and Beaton is relaxing in his garden. The house and party are a success and it is not as expensive as he had feared. Gordon Craig was picturesque in a straw hat, a white overall and a white burnous thrown over one shoulder. He lives in a sad little room surrounded by 'exquisite carving tools and little book covers and collections of theatrical archives of every sort'. He talked well and with far more vitality than Max. They saw the Picasso ceramics and drawings in the Antibes museum. They are going to take a motorboat one evening and go to St Tropez.
