Scope and content

It was sweet of Beaton to write. Apologises for not having written before. Found Beaton's book amusing. Supposes it won't be a best-seller as New York is not interested enough in England. Would be interested to see some work of Sir Francis Rose. Agrees that Blumenfeld has a lot of talent. They are waiting to see the work he has done for British "Vogue". Longs to see Beaton, but thinks he is wise not to come over this winter. Thinks there would be a 'fresh blast of unpleasant publicity'. The memories are 'acute' as the 'Jewish question is still at boiling point'. Conde is giving a party for Lady Patricia Ward tonight. She seems like a nice girl. There are several successful plays in New York this year, though Ilka is not one. Hopes Beaton will continue to write to her.
