Has had a 'puzzling and upsetting' cable and cannot understand what it is about. Mentions anti-Jewish lettering in Beaton's drawing, advertisers cancelling contracts and Beaton resigning. Feels 'frantic'. Did not see anything but the name on the envelopes, which she asked Beaton to change. Wants to hear from Beaton as quickly as possible. 'Poor Conde' probably needs her and she feels like going back at once. Has had a lovely holiday until now.
