Scope and content
Was glad to get Beaton's letter. Hopes the show will go well in London. Has done two more lots of small drawings. Would love to do an animated drawing for the cinema. It will be alright if Beaton brings up the pictures to town in a fortnight. Discusses his plans for saving money. Will take a cottage and do all the work himself. Plans to go to the monks at Buckfast Abbey in order to get into the habit of doing manual work himself. His only fear is running out of money before Freddy sells a picture. Has quite recovered and has given up drink. Is working on the plans for a ballet. Freddy will have to sell something within a month or he will volunteer for the merchant marines or the Finnish army. Is delighted with Beaton's décor for the pantomime. Was glad to hear from him. Hopes he has tried the rice dish, and likes it.
