Scope and content

Encloses more m.s. The book is being a "terrible trouble" and he does not know what to do about it. Feels that the style is trashy but it cannot be altered in the middle of the book. Has a lot of serious things to say about painting and travels in China which do not fit the style. Asks Beaton for suggestions. Discusses his ideas about the book. Got a letter from Freddy saying that he had been unable to get in touch with Beaton on the telephone. Encloses his letter. Does not suppose Beaton minds showing George his pictures later on when he is on leave. Hopes he may get him a commission. Asks Beaton what happened to the pantomime.
