Scope and content

Knows that Beaton will be sad to learn that Hansen's mother died in January. Her death has been a terrible shock and he has been depressed and melancholy. Has been set back quite a bit on the fashion book. Returned to New York last Wednesday. Has read Dior's book which was amusing. Has managed to get all of the material organized. Is working hard this week though he finds it hard to concentrate. By the time Beaton returns he will have quite a lot of work to show him, though not as much as he had hoped. Is delighted that Beaton's lecture tour is a success. Everyone is hard at work and seems very alive and active. Is trying to be the same. Happily he still has five brothers and three sisters.
