Scope and content
It is good to see Beaton's diaries coming out. Franco Rossellini showed him a new book of Beaton's that he said Beaton has illustrated with drawings from his left hand. Is delighted Beaton works on with such determination. Is unable to visit Beaton as he has to go back to Paris to do post-synching of the Alain Resnais-David Mercer film he was in. Then begins rehearsing "No Man's Land" for the U.S. tour. Wonders if Beaton saw the National Theatre programme last night. It is a beastly house to work in. One can only approve the acoustics and the lines of sight. Truman seems to be making an ass of himself lately. Gielgud has been playing a small part in "Caligula" in Rome. Gore Vidal says it is 'ideological pornography'. He is certainly right about the second appellation. Describes "Caligula".
