Scope and content
Was nice of Beaton to mention "Quex". Business has improved a bit, but it is losing too much money. The management has behaved generously, but Dan Massey has been a disappointment and it has to come off in a fortnight's time. The Pinter is a huge success. If Beaton comes to see it, he will get him aisle seats. But he should wait until the weather is cooler, as it is oppressive at the moment. Asks if Beaton heard about Diana going out in a yashmak to see "Shampoo" the day after her bad fall. Has heard that Enid's play is going to be done by Katherine Hepburn in New York. Hopes it works out. Discusses his efforts to sell his house. Discusses Alec Guinness' play.
