Account of trip to London. Feels that the death of Lilian Baylis is a national calamity. Spent the morning in a committee meeting and then went to the Ritz for a cocktail. Comments on the people she saw there. Diana and Oggie have been watching Queen Elizabeth open a creche in Westminster. Duff and Diana went on a dolphin hunt in Gloucester Road. Caught train back to Wilton. Next day spent time planning in the garden. Spent next day with Alfred Beit visiting curiosity shops in Salisbury. Freda and Bobby came for dinner. Next day went to church. Discusses the visitors they have throughout the day. Went to London on November 26th for Christmas shopping and to see "Macbeth". Went to a party for Maxine Elliott. Met the Duke of Kent. Bought lots of new dresses on 30th November. Had lunch with Michael and then went to two bazaars. Is trying to write a speech to make at her hospital in Worthing tomorrow. Had dinner with Charlie Birkin. On 1st December goes to Worthing. Got through her speech better than she expected to. Discusses guests of the evening. Discusses Emerald. Hurries to see Beaton's exhibition only to find that it is over. Gives details of what she intends to do next week.
