Scope and content
Beaton's letter to Simon was amusing. Was distressed to hear that Beaton is laid low. Yugoslavia was lovely. Simon came to P. N. on Sunday. He was 'intoxicated by his new freedom' and did far too much and became ill again. Discusses Kitty's wedding. Feels as if the war will go on forever. Is coming to London on Wednesday. Asks if Beaton would like to meet for lunch. The accounts on the radio of the raids in London last night sounded terrible. Thought that Roosevelt's speech was good, but he talks so much and does so little.
