Scope and content

Was lovely to receive a letter from Beaton. They have enjoyed leaving Chicago. The city is exciting, but the dirt and mist gives you a permanent cough. They stopped at Denver and are now in California. Elsie gave a big party for them before she went to Paris. Has heard that she intends to stay in Paris until she dies. Constance also gave them a party with all of their old friends. Was flattered because Charlie Chaplin sat by her all evening. They are leaving New York for England on the 16th July. Would like to arrange to see Beaton. Alfred is better, only tired.
