Scope and content

Thinks the International Telephone is wonderful. The weather has turned glorious and he longs to be in the country. Has been trying to raise some money for his exhibitions. It will be nice to get his mind off that and onto their project. Thanks Beaton for the additional photographs. The Spode people want a design for a commemorative plate from Beaton. Discusses details of fee and design. Has put practically no effort into this project, but assumes Beaton won't either. Beaton should 'dash it off' as they want it fast. The mood in this country is so low that it will be a relief to get out. There seems to be no hope for improvement and most people have adopted the attitude of not caring. The roads get better so even the country is made undesirable by accessibility. There is no retreat and little but 'plastic pleasures'.
