Scope and content

The Faculty Board should not arrive at a precipitate decision over the Headship of DAMTP as it is already clear that strong difference exist among members of DAMTP as to who the next head should be. Discussions should start from the Report of the General Board, the Report of the Faculty Board of Mathematics to the General Board, and the initiating letter on the constitution of DAMTP (Reporter, 13 May 1959, pp. 1374-1376), and these should be circulated to members of the Faculty Board. It was the intention of the Faculty Board that the Headship should normally change every five years, and this intention should be given weight. Suggests that a committee of all the Professors on the Faculty Board be asked to discover what candidates are available for the post. Numbered 13 by FH
