Scope and content
Beaton must be weary of her journals from Portugal. Has been to an old villa with Iris, Daphne and Mary Mayoll. The jaunt is now over and has been wonderfully successful. Discusses difficulties with the French trains. The summer weather and a chauffeur driven car made Paris seem 'delectable'. Went to see Hoytie who has had a heart attack and needs to change her way of life. Iris has driven to Malaga. Worries about what would happen if Iris crashed. Bill Paley said he was going to give something yearly but has sent word 'with vague promises of future driblets when necessity is dire'. The best things about Paris are the returns of Louise and Barbara Ghima. Her cough is not getting better but London is nice. Has missed a wonderful political drama. Discusses Aubron and his troubles.
