Has been having a quiet day with Iris and Xan. Yesterday they went to fetch Iris' car, which had not been repaired. They also went to get a hair dryer for Daphne. Daphne is 'too too ugly and battered and swollen and emaciated in a badly distributed way'. Describes the physical appearances of Iris and Daphne. Went to lunch at Dickie Wyatt's apartment. Had drinks with the 'dear drunken Lees Mayols' and a 'jolly low class dinner'. Saw "Gattopardo" in American and thought it was awful. Discusses Xan and Daphne. Thinks Daphne had better get Xan away from Portugal. Has read Rose Macauley's "They went to Portugal". Discusses other books she has read or would like to read and people that she would like to read about.
