Scope and content
It is so long since she wrote to Beaton and there is absolutely nothing to say! Has had letters from Beaton and another friend who agrees with him that the beauty of New York is intoxicating. Fears Stephen is very ill though he is in the hands of first-rate doctors. Nanny has also been dangerously ill but Stephen has not been told. If he is well enough she will go out to see him for two or three weeks. Saw Rex in London last week, busy with commissions. He is to illustrate a deluxe edition of Gulliver's Travels, and has to get the pictures done for the Imperial Exhibition. Asks Beaton if he could give her "a little preliminary publicity" for her book. Sylvia Warner has just got a book out. Saw Edith Sitwell in London last week. She spoke with great affection of Beaton. The reason this letter is written so badly is that she is lying in the garden, basking in the sun. Saw Beaton's mother and Nancy at a wedding.
