Scope and content
Beaton's letter of advice "warms the cockles of my heart". Is going to Paris for about a month. Will be "jazzing up" the English translation of Alexandre's autobiography. Discusses the article he is writing about Beaton. Goes back to New York in March. Feels that it makes sense for him to live there. Tangier has been a failure to live and work in. Discusses the problem with his W. Somerset Maugham book. "Willie" is "not a warm or a really interesting character". Still wants to do a book about himself and his father. May pop over to London this month. Beaton's letter was a joy. Sends his love to Eileen.
