Documents relating to PFC's career from his application to a lectureship at the Faculty of History, University of Cambridge onwards. Documents from 1980 include job advertisement and invitation to interview, appointment letter, correspondence relating to his Fellowship at St John's College, and his resignation from UCL. There is also correspondence from 1989 regarding PFC's suitability for a D. Litt., PFC's application for the Chair in Modern History in 1997, appraisal reports from 1997 and 2003, PCF's 2003 letter of resignation from his University post, to coincide with his resignation as Master of Trinity Hall on 30 September 2004. Documents relating to PFC's election as a Fellow of the British Academy in 1989; his entries in Who's who 2002-4, and Debrett's People of today 2004 and 2009 are also present.
