Scope and content
Letter from Thomas Browne to Robert Lambert, regarding the statutes for the foundation of John Williams (1582-1650). Browne thanks Lambert for having sent him details of the fall in the rent paid on the Ravely estate, which he hopes that the Bishop of Rochester will agree is insufficient to support the fellowships specified under the terms of the foundation. He asks that Lambert clarify how long the College maintained the two fellowships and at what point the decision was taken to sink them, as well as the circumstances surrounding that decision. Also discusses the terms for the election of scholars outlined in the statutes of Williams' foundation.
