Agrees 'wholeheartedly' with the plan for an international committee, but this must be responsible to the Joint Policy Committee. Concerning instrumentation for the Anglo-Australian Telescope. Encloses a memorandum from Jeffrey (possibly 9/7/9). Reacted 'violently' to the prominence given therein to Reddish; 'does not trust the philosophy he might impose in the matter of final instrumentation as adviser, at this stage, on computer requirements', but some astronomical input is essential now, and therefore agrees that Jeffrey's proposals should be implemented 'at once'.
