Scope and content

Typescript article, in which Beaton reflects on his home in London. Not to take pleasure in one's surroundings, he writes, is to miss one of the great delights in life. One should appreciate one's habitat, however, since like a dull marriage, one can become too fond of one's settings and ignore them, regular change can be beneficial. Beaton states that it has now been twenty years since he first moved into No.8 Pelham Place and goes on to describe the alterations he has made to it since then. He describes the rooms and their furnishings. Also includes a list of captions for the accompanying photographs and a list of the photographs themselves.
