Scope and content

Two miniature pocket notebooks, each measuring 5 x 5.5 cms, containing printed calendars for 1896 and 1902. The 1896 notebook contains two lines of music and two pages of notes in Samuel Butler's hand, and many of its pages have been removed. The 1902 notebook is blank. [These are apparently the notebooks Butler used to record his 'Notes', from 1882 onwards; see note in Henry Festing Jones's catalogue, p.54.]
