Scope and content

Collections of pressed flowers, labelled by Henry Festing Jones and possibly also by Samuel Butler, taken from the Val Leventina (Autumn 1878), Val de Gressony (4 September 1887) and the Garden of Pier Luigi at Palestrina (1896). The latter is accompanied by a photograph labelled 'H F Jones In the garden of Palestrina's House. Where he studied', and a postcard showing Ioannes Petraloysius Praenestinus. Some flowers are pressed between two sheets of a letter from 'Will' to 'My dear Hoppy' [Henry Festing Jones] dated 4 April 1900, which refers to Lillian Jones and to Will's mother's recent operation.
