Scope and content

Thanks Beaton for his letter. Would be enchanted to read his book. However, he is very busy so would not have time to suggest detailed revisions. As the book consists of diaries, he presumes that Beaton intends to keep to the original text as much as possible. Suggests that he read through the typescript and make general criticisms. Sometimes an outsider's impressions are helpful. Asks Beaton to let him know if this is feasible. Meant to telephone Beaton last weekend but the telephone was struck by lightning. Will be in London until September. Will Beaton's secretary telephone him there? Shall be interested to know Beaton's opinion of his forthcoming work.
