Scope and content
Beaton's last letter was a mixture of depression, homesickness and enthusiasm for his enormous task. When the "shooting" begins it will probably be more fun. He has missed a really cold and wet summer. The roses and lilies are very good. The heated pool has been a roaring success and they are never out of it. Antony and his family are going to Malaya in October for two years. The sordid Waid case dominates the papers and all conversation. Has been to a number of parties and has been to London very little. Went last week to the Bolshoi "Romeo and Juliet". Henry is contemplating leaving in October for a tour of the Americas. Asks if Beaton could keep an eye on him.
