Scope and content
Appreciated Beaton's "sweet" letter. Was glad he thought that the spoken words were better than the written ones. Was angry with the BBC for printing both the stills in spite of her begging them not to. Hopes Beaton is having a real rest and will be back in London, refreshed, in March. Is going to the Fairbancs in Palm Beach. Has "no fun at all" playing Fanny. Bemoans the small part actors "[over-acting] their heads off", the "nightmare" set and "mystical" directions. Describes the set. Does not like having to sing down the "horrible" spiral staircase as "ones back is to the audience half the time". Is not happy here. Asks him to "ignore this diatribe".
