Bertram Hughes Farmer (BA 1937) was Emeritus Reader in South Asian Geography; Director of the Centre of South Asian Studies, 1964-1983; and Fellow of St. John's College, 1948-1996. The B.H. Farmer Fund was established in 1983, following his retirement and the publication of a book of essays produced by Farmer's students and associates in his honour.
