James McMahon, of the Island of St. Christopher, West Indies, Lincoln’s Inn, and the Inner Temple, Barrister-at-Law, bequeathed (28 March 1851 and by codicil 31 March 1853), subject to certain legacies (including land at St. Christopher to his brother) and to annuities (originally worth £400, to which adjustments were made), his surplus income and the residue of his property, to endow law scholarships in one or more colleges at Oxford or Cambridge, or studentships at Lincoln’s Inn, as his executors should limit and appoint. McMahon d. 13 Dec. 1861; the will etc. was proved 1 Feb. 1862
