Wood exhibitions

Exhibitions funded by James Wood, Master of St John's, Dean of Ely and Rector of Freshwater. Two copies of two deeds made in 1829 and 1830.

Williams fellowships and scholarships

The scholars were to be chosen from the four Williams foundation scholars at Westminster School, London, two of these being from of Wales and two from Lincolnshire; in default, from the Liberties of Westminster. The fellows were to be chosen from the Williams' St John's College scholars, one being from Wales or in default from Lincolnshire or the Liberties of Westminster, or in default from any in St John's formerly of the foundation of Williams scholars.
The two fellowships were vacated in 1644 and 1645, and no successors were elected.

White: intended scholarship

Rentcharge bequeathed in 1583 to fund a scholarship, to commence 6 years after his death, but his heir made over the lands to another party without reference to the obligation to St John's. The College did not take legal advice until 1639 and it was decided the benefaction could not be recovered.

Includes: copies of weekly Hall menus, Fellows' lunch and dinner menus, some menus list wines served at meals. Also included are some copies of Fellows' dinner menus and wine circle menus.

Watercolour: May Ball

Includes a watercolour portrait of a young woman ('Sybil'), together with a scanned copy photograph and obituary of the artist, Robert Carew Heaton-Armstrong. Also includes a note from the donor.

War Memorial

Includes: reports, minutes, notes, lists of names, invitations and notices related to the installation and unveiling of the College's war memorial
