Robert Hungate bequeathed, 10 May 1619, died 25 July, 40 marks annually to be paid out of the endowments of his foundation of Sherburn Hospital and Grammar School (Sherburn in Elmet, West Riding) , to support 4 scholarships at St John's College. The scholars were to enter at no older than fifteen and a half (at which age they must leave the hospital to be placed as apprentices, or scholars or in some other course of life), and to continue until taking their M.A.
