Note
John Gwynne, Fellow, on 1 June 1574 bequeathed to his brother, Griffith Gwynne, lands in Maynon [Maenan], Carnaervonshire. subject to rent charge of £40 to endow 3 fellowships and 6 scholarships. Fellows had to be born in certain parts of Wales; scholars to come from Bangor School, with same qualifications of origin as the fellows. During a vacancy, money to be used to make bridge over the Conway at Rhyd Llanvayre, and paving the way called Sarn y thvarne. Agreement was made in 1584 and again in 1650 to reduce the number of fellows and scholars supported by the bequest.
The benefaction ended in the 19th century when the estate had to be sold to pay off the debts of the Gwynnes' descendant, owner of the estate. Provision was made in College Statutes in 1861 and 1885 for one exhibition in lieu of the scholarships, but no-one was elected
