Philip Baylis bequeathed in 1907, subject to other legacies and life interests, the whole of his personal and real estate upon trust to found one named mathematical scholarship, value £100, to be awarded for 3 years to the best mathematical scholar, the balance to be applied to found other named scholarships. The condition of holding the £100 scholarship was to reside in the benefactor's old rooms in Third Court.
