Scope and content
Typescript of 'Marriage: a little tale' by T.C. Gotch and 'Marriage: another little tale' by Henry Festing Jones. A handwritten prefatory note by Henry Festing Jones reads: 'Thomas Cooker Gotch, an art-student whom Butler & I used to meet at Heatherley's, wrote the first of these little tales & I wrote the second. They appeared in The Examiner 7 June 1879. Butler was at that time publishing A Clergyman's Doubts & God the Known & God the Unknown in that periodical & had brought influence with the Editor D'Avigdor to induce him to insert our productions.'
