Scope and content
In taking Beaton's advice to write for posterity, has denied herself the pleasure of writing to Beaton. Was lovely to have Beaton's letter. Is working hard on the play "Love in a Looking Glass". Eric and Thornton have 'great big lovely libelous roles'. Should be finished before she leaves for England. Beaton will be the first to lay his 'far too bright and far too penetrating' eyes on it. Mentions articles she is writing. Wonders if Beaton will go to stay with Egmont in Holland at the same time as she is going. Duff and Diana will be there. Discusses various plays. Took Hedder Hopper, Adele Astaire and Eleanor L. to lunch and a figure 'suspiciously like Margaret O'Brein clings constantly to the bar'. Will be at the Dorchester on the 1st or 2nd June. Tonight is the opening of "Inside U.S.A.".
