Scope and content
Has been thinking about "Lady Windermere's Fan" after their talk. Feels it would be a great mistake to change the period of the play by more than a very little. Is sure that Beaton, with his 'distinctive ideas, and very special colour sense' will not invite comparison with Rex's work. Discusses details of the sets for acts I and IV. Feels that intimacy would be ruined if they were played in a huge open set. Discusses possible solutions to this. Is happy they are working on the production together and looks forward to it. Thinks the décor should be realistic but also witty. Thinks the style of clothes and scenery should be ninetyish to match the text. Marie Lohr is being approached about the Duchess.
