Scope and content

Was so sorry about this weekend. Felt that he ought to stay here as he has "so little sense of responsibility anyway" that he likes to cultivate it when he has it. Has finished four of the sections. Beaton must make time to photograph Hogarths House in Chiswick, which is a "gift", and "like an 18th century wrecked dolls-house". Asks if Beaton can go any day this week. Also spent an "intoxicating morning" wandering about Chiswick House. Is going to the Cromwellian house at Highgate and is trying to get to St Magnus the Martyr and Bow Church. Discusses the "wrong Lady Dorchester".
