Scope and content
Coloured engraving of a drawing showing a blue bird perched on a branch, signed 'GE'. Inscribed on verso 'Henry Festing Jones from WRM Lamb Feb. 27th, 1923'. An accompanying note by Jones explains: 'Walter Lamb (Secretary of the Royal Academy of Arts) picked up this print of the Solitary Sparrow & gave it to me. We suppose it to be the blue Rock Thrush, the passer of Lesbia, the passero solitario of the [?], referred to by Butler in Alps & Sanctuaries. Lamb gave me the print 27 Feb. 1923'.
