Two copies of Alberto Durio's edited volume. One is a first edition copy, given by the author on 2 May 1946; it includes a facsimile of a letter from Samuel Butler to Signor Arienta, tipped in at p.78, and a copy of a letter (in French) from the Librarian of St John's College to Alberto Durio, dated 24 May 1946, inserted at the back. The other is a copy of the 1986 reprint, brought back from an exhibition at Varallo and donated to the Library by Elinor Shaffer on 15 September 1986; it includes a printed programme for the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Sacro Monte, and a typed letter (in Italian) from the Biblioteca Civica at Varallo to the Librarian of St John's College, dated 11 June 1986, inserted at the back.
