Based on the 1881 novel by Henry James, "Portrait of a Lady" was performed at the ANTA Theatre in New York City in 1954, and starred Jennifer Jones as Isabel Archer. "The Chalk Garden" is a play by Enid Bagnold, which premiered at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway, on 26 October 1955.
