Biographical history

Admitted Sizar at St John's College in 1862, Mullinger was awarded his B.A. in 1866 and won the Le Bas Prize in 1867. He was the Librarian at St John's from 1883 until 1905. He was also Cambridge University Teacher in the History of Education 1885-95 and University Lecturer in History 1894-1909 and was President of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society in 1896. Best known for his three volume The University of Cambridge from the Earliest Times to the Decline of the Platonist Movement (1873-1911), Mullinger also wrote History of St John's College, Cambridge in 1901 and, with Dr S. R. Gardiner, an Introduction to English History in 1881.
