Scope and content

It is 40 years since he saw the rooms in the Labyrinth. He only remembers W. Rotherham and A.A.N.F. Solari amongst his contemporaries there. He directly succeeded Merton. Campbell was one of his predecessors and Adams one of Solari's predecessors. The bedmaker Mrs Ireland was fond of talking about Campbell and Adams. He followed the usual custom in that he went into lodgings in the term at the end of his third year. Encloses two drawings at different scales showing the rooms at Small Court. On an additional sheet he notes that he knew nothing of the rooms above, but suggests that Rotherham, Rector of Somerton, Bury St Edmund's would know more. Notes that Mrs Ireland used to live in the lane, and was assisted by her daughter, and asks whether any of the old servants have been consulted. Does not agree with the numbering of his and Solari's rooms.
