Caught train back to Wilton. Next day spent time planning in the garden. Spent next day with Alfred Beit visiting curiosity shops in Salisbury. Freda and Bobby came for dinner. Next day went to church. Discusses the visitors they have throughout the day. Went to London on November 26th for Christmas shopping and to see "Macbeth". Went to a party for Maxine Elliott. Met the Duke of Kent. Bought lots of new dresses on 30th November. Had lunch with Michael and then went to two bazaars. Is trying to write a speech to make at her hospital in Worthing tomorrow. Had dinner with Charlie Birkin. On 1st December goes to Worthing. Got through her speech better than she expected to. Discusses guests of the evening. Discusses Emerald. Hurries to see Beaton's exhibition only to find that it is over. Gives details of what she intends to do next week.

Was proud of the Brooks Atkinson references to Beaton in the Lunt review. Had lunch with George Cukor. Feels that everything is going well. Is able to write better. Promises to ring Beaton at the weekend.

Feels that if she did not work on Vogue she could not imagine becoming involved with it and spending most of the time looking at it. Is on her way to Kennedy Airport. It is still freezing in New York.
