Eighteen carat gold ring, engraved with the signet 'HFJ' [Henry Festing Jones]. The ring was bequeathed to Jones by Butler; inside the band are engraved 'S.B.' [Samuel Butler], with the dates 10 Jan. 1876 and 18 June 1902, and 'H.F.J. 1913-28'. Either side of the signet are engraved the initials of Butler's successive literary executors, 'A.T.B 1906 1933' [A.T.
