Scope and content
MS copy made by Joseph McCormick, of Samuel Butler's parody of a Simeonite tract disseminated by a student at St John's College in 1855. Canon McCormick prefaces the text with the following note: 'Sam Butler hated cant & hypocrisy. A very unwise tract was circulated through the College, and Sam dealt with it as follows.' [A version of the text was reprinted in the Shrewsbury Edition of the Works of Samuel Butler, Vol. I (1923), pp.57-9.]
