Scope and content

From Prof. A.B. Pippard (Department of Physics). Claims that Hoyle was fully consulted in the process of amalgamating the Institute of Theoretical Astronomy with the Observatories. The Electors to the Professorship of Astrophysics cannot be blamed for 'choosing the most outstandingly brilliant of those candidates who expressed an interest in the chair'. FH has said that the University is seeking to 'harm his subject', but he has harmed 'us' and himself by his 'petulant resignation and subsequent statements'.
