Was happy to get Beaton's letter and it gave her all the news she wanted. Discusses '"the bizaars"' in India. Extended description of the hardships of various places in India. This town delights her. Yearns for Beaton and Rex to enjoy it with her. It is scarcely spoilt yet. Describes the dwellings of the town. There are 'flashes and whiffs' of Venice. Discusses the habits of the local people. This week is an 'all round holiday'. Everyone is wearing clothes that are dyed in colours never seen in the west. They have had Jimmy Sheean and Edgar staying, but no one else that she knows. When she feels 'stale or fat ot irritable' she gets on a train and goes into the country alone until she feels rested. Describes their dining arrangements. Her gardener left her as soon as her back was turned and she feels 'desperato'. Asks that if Beaton should hear of anybody who could help that he tell Mrs. Wakefield. Describes the climate. Feels that one is never dry. They are going to Australia and New Zealand. Asks for news of various people.
