Scope and content
Letter describing trip to ball at Windsor. Stayed in St James' Street on their own. They got to Winsdor early and whizzed along, 'queueless'. The castle was floodlit and looked as though it were in the sky. They had a nice talk with the Salisburys who had been staying at their ranch in Africa. Describes the opening of the ball and the decorations. Mentions various friends that were there. Describes the clothes of the Royal hosts and guests. Describes the wedding. There were crowds in the streets. It was far worse than it was for Princess Margaret. Princess Alexandra looked marvellous and behaved beautifully. The service was very moving.
