It was considerate of Beaton to reply at such length. Believes the best of Rhys' books is "Wide Sargasso Sea", though the novel he is working on is "Quartet". There is a good volume of short stories called "Tigers are Better-Looking". Marianne has read them with enthusiasm. Has almost finished the first draft. They may miss each other if Beaton returns at the end of February, as Garland is going to America to tour "Brief Lives" and to Israel to direct "Hair".
