Scope and content
Sends Beaton New Year good wishes. Had Beaton's diaries as a Christmas present and read them with delight. Cyril Connolly was wrong to say that Beaton's diaries were ephemeral. They will be read by biographers and social historians far into the future. Praises the diaries. Enjoyed Beaton's exhibition in Motcombe. Knew it would be a treat to see so many of Beaton's stage designs all together but did not know he did such 'exquisite' pencil portraits and line drawings. Her visit to Beaton last summer was very special. Discusses the guests Beaton had staying with him. Did not see enough of Eileen. Most of her work is book reviewing. Tells Beaton not to answer this letter.
